1. The government of the Republic of Korea will send Park Byeong-seok, Vice Speaker of the National Assembly and head of the ROK-Venezuela Parliamentary Friendship Association, as special envoy of President Park Geun-hye to the inauguration ceremony of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro Moros. The ceremony will take place in Caracas, Venezuela, on April 19.

2. Since the establishment of their diplomatic relations in 1965, the ROK and Venezuela have worked closely together in a wide range of sectors. Lately, the two countries have been improving their understanding on each other through economic cooperation as well as official, cultural and educational exchanges.

3. Venezuela is a resource-abundant country, as demonstrated by its largest oil reserves and ninth-largest gas reserves in the world. As such, Korean companies have increasingly sought entry into the energy infrastructure and plant markets of the country.
